In celebration of 2024 Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, State Advocate for Adult Education Fellow (SAAEF) Amber Beck hosted a special Book Packing Party in support of Big House Books (BHB). The event brought together volunteers, educators, and community members who share a commitment to expanding access to literacy for incarcerated individuals across Mississippi. Held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Big House Books in Jackson, participants worked side by side to ensure valuable education reading materials reach those who need them most. For those who were unable to attend, supporters can still contribute to this meaningful cause. Programs statewide are encouraged to donate GED prep materials and other paperback books to BHB. Supporters can also select titles from the BHB Amazon Wishlist or make monetary donations to help cover postage costs for shipping books. Together, we’re helping open doors through literacy—one book at a time.
