MEMBERSHIP

Benefits of membership in MAACE include:

  • An opportunity to build on career and leadership skills;

  • Participation in thought-provoking conferences;

  • Networking with others who work with adult learners;

  • A forum for members to share ideas, trends, research, and developments in the field of adult education;

  • Strengthen your programs; and

  • Promotion of important issues facing adult educators and the development of recommendations for action.

Publications

The MAACE newsletter, TOPICS is published three times a year and highlights MAACE activities. TOPICS also includes features on local, state and national resources, organizations, conferences and people relevant to adult education professionals.

A juried professional journal, OPTIONS features contributions from adult education professionals. Published periodically, the purpose of the journal is to focus on applications of adult learning theory, concepts and ideas. The goals of OPTIONS are to promote an atmosphere which encourages critical questions and alternative approaches to problems related to lifelong learning of adults and to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of adult learning and ways to enhance the learning potential of adults.

Annual Professional Development Conference

MAACE’s ANNUAL CONFERENCE, traditionally held in March, features presentations and speakers from all aspects of adult and continuing education. Also, the conference usually includes a research-to-practice session.

Membership Directory

The annual MAACE MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY provides members with a valuable link with other adult educators.

Opportunities

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT events in special interest areas are offered periodically for and by MAACE members.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

INDIVIDUAL—Enjoys full benefits including TOPICS, OPTIONS and a reduced Annual Conference registration fee.

STUDENT—Enjoys all benefits of an individual member. A student member must be enrolled in a degree program related to adult education.

RETIREE—Enjoys all benefits of an individual member, as well as an opportunity to maintain an affiliation with adult and continuing education colleagues.

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBER—Supports the mission of MAACE, receives three copies of MAACE publications and has the opportunity to display/disseminate institutional information at all MAACE meetings and conferences. The institution will designate one individual for full MAACE membership benefits including voting rights
